Still Can Rock

Last night we attended a Kenny Loggins concert at Penn's Peak. We only bought our tickets last week but ended up with front row center. It was like having a private show as there was no one in front of us and the stage was less than 5 feet away. However for about the last 10 minutes of the show everyone was on their feet and moving forward making us just a member of the crowd and adding to the fun of the evening.

For those of you who might think you are too young to know who Kenny is his songs include I'm All Right, Footloose, Highway To The Danger Zone, Your Mama Don't Dance and the album Return To Pooh Corner.

They would not allow anyone to bring Video Cameras into the performance so I don't know where these came from. I guess I pushed the wrong button in the dark. Enjoy..... :)

Good, Better, Not So Great!

This weekend we continued our recent run on having a life by attend a play, with Danny and Darlene, at one of the local theaters. The performance was "A Murder Is Announced" which was an adaptation from the book by Agatha Christie. We all felt that it was a GOOD performance and look forward to going to this theater again.

On the BETTER side our friends Teresa and Norm have received their final approval for the adoption of their son from Vietnam. This process has been going on longer than they care to remember and it is a thrill for all of us to know they will soon be traveling to be united with their son.

This afternoon we had to run some errands so while we were out we stopped at all our favorite Pez stores to try to find some new dispensers that have been released recently. These include new Winnie The Pooh's, Madagascar's and College Footballs. After checking all these stores we came home empty handed. NOT SO GREAT a day for the collectors. Although we did not do the PDOJ I am sure that Teresa and Norm have not stopped doing their own Dance Of Joy so all in all it was a great weekend!

Active Weekend

Somehow a normally quiet no plans weekend turned into going all weekend. It started Saturday afternoon when Darleen called Barb to see if she wanted to go to the movies. So they decided to meet for the 4:30 show. I along with Darleen's husband Danny caught up with them for supper and as seems to me our latest MO ( see last weekend) we sat and talked until they closed the place and kicked us out. So after standing on the sidewalk for about 45 minutes we headed home. When we got up Sunday morning we found out that Keith had purchased some very old Pez from a lady who lived in Central PA near were we used to live. Since these had to be picked up it was time for another road trip. As we were driving there I called another friend who we had not seen since the wedding. We arranged to meet with him and his wife at the Dairy Queen in Selinsgrove after we picked up the Pez. Although we did not close the place down we did sit and talk for over two hours before the hour drive home. All in all a busy day.

Speaking of Pez the ones we picked up included one of the Holy Grail of Pez the Full Body Robot for the 50's. These are becoming one of the harder ones to find. I got to do the PDOJ myself today when I found the Disney Fairies release. We had the three from Europe but there is a different fairy in the US release and the dress color is different. Gotta love the marketers at Pez.

Looking Up

For those of you who like looking at the stars this is a good week for looking up. In the South just above and to the left of the moon is Jupiter. Jupiter is at 'opposition' which means that it is directly opposite the Sun as seen from Earth and the closet to us this year. If you have a good set of binoculars and let you eyes adjust you can see one or two very small pinpoint lights around Jupiter. These are some of Jupiter's largest moons and will change position every night as they move around the planet. I was just out and was able to spot one just to the right of Jupiter.

Also if you look west just after sunset you will see Mars and Saturn just above the horizon. They will be within about 1 degree of each other but will set soon after the sun so look quickly. It's also a great time to look at the Moon while you have the binoculars out. just do it after you have looked at every thing else or you will have to let your eyes adjust again.

Enjoy the night!

Share The Joy

This weekend we were lucky enough to be able to spend some time with our friends Norm and Teresa and the kids Jess and Alyssa. As you have seen in other posts Jess began collecting Pez about a year ago and was looking forward to seeing Keith's collection. After looking at some of the special pieces that he has it was time to get out the tote of extras that Keith has amassed over the years. He had told us to share these with Jess and allow her to have anything she would like to expand her collection. After a few gentle nudges and some "here you gotta have this one" she ended up with shopping bag full of dispensers. Well now someone else understands what it means to do the "Pez Dance Of Joy". I hope that it lasts for a few days!

After the Pez tour was over we decided to go out for diner so we called a local restaurant and made reservations for 7:30. We arrived on time and at about 10 decided we better leave. I think we could have stayed another couple of hours just talking and enjoying the time together. Well there is always another day.

Wearing Many Hats

It was time to get some projects completed so today began by clearing everything off the deck. A couple of weeks ago we had replaced some bad deck boards so now it was time to repaint. After taping off and painting the edges the easy part was all that was left. Even though it was a hot day the deck was in the shade by the time I started rolling the paint. We will now let it sit and dry for a couple of days before we replace the furniture and plants.

Tonight we got out the museum curators hat and did some work on the Pez collection. As you remember we had entered a lot of Pez into our data base last week. These were still sitting out all over the place and needed to be sorted and placed into containers for storage. Of course the containers needed to be labeled so that we can find whatever we are looking for form time to time. Well I happy to say that everything is put away and the room is cleaned again. I guess it's time to go shopping for more!

I guess part of my motivation is that Norm, Teresa, Alyssa and Jessica are coming to visit this weekend. Jess began collecting Pez last year and Keith has helped her expand her collection. We wanted to be able to show her some of what he has so getting everything in order was a top priority. He also has some extra Pez he wants to share with her so these needed to be found as well. We sure are looking forward to this weekend.

The 4th Of July

Well the fourth was like so many others for us. Alan had to work Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Even with that schedule we did find some time to party. On Saturday night we went up to Sunbury to party with some old friends from our days living in Danville. It was great to get away and visit with people we had not seen since the wedding. Even though it was almost 1am (late for the old folks ) when we returned home it was more than worth it.

As for news from the south, Keith has two more TDY's coming up over the next two months. He is going to Georgia for a joint Air Force Navy exercise sometime this month. Then in August he's off to Utah for a few days. I think I need to get him the old Willie Nelson song "On The Road Again".

He also plans to begin some classes at the local Community College sometime this fall. He has not made a final decision on the classes but he has a few weeks before he needs to do that. They can get him a schedule of class in the morning so that he can be to work by 1pm. This is just another benefit that he might as well take advantage of while he in on active duty.

McGuire Air Show 2007

On Mothers Day we attended the Air Show at McGuire AFB were we were joined by our friends Tim and Mary from Danville. Tim and Mary's son Andy just happens is stationed at McGuire. We hope you enjoy the show.
